Interview questions result in EEOC lawsuit against restaurant chain

The general manager of a large restaurant chain in Pittsburgh asked a visibly disabled candidate, who utilized a cane, what was “wrong” with him and whether the disability was “bad.”  The restaurant then declined to hire the individual for a busser position.  The EEOC has stepped in and sued the employer for disability discrimination.  This case highlights the need for all individuals who conduct interviews to be trained in the “do’s” and “don’ts” of interview questions.
