We just bought another business

We just bought another business and we are going to continue to operate it with the former employees – what does this implicate from an HR perspective? 

 

Ideally, the pre-purchase due diligence would highlight any potential issues and necessary “to do” items.  However, sometimes the purchase timeline or legal costs do not allow for a robust due diligence process.  Particularly if a large employer is purchasing a smaller business, it must, at a minimum, ensure that the purchased entity’s policies and benefits comply with those requirements that are applicable to larger employers, such as the Affordable Care Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, local leave laws and wage and hour compliance.
